Introducing // Tongues

Glasgow, Scotland isn’t perhaps the first place that springs to mind as a home to exotic sounding up-and-coming pop stars. However, in Tongues, it has one. This currently unknown songwriter and producer first appeared, out of the blue, four months ago with the intoxicating ‘Colours In The Dark’, a woozy, delicate piece of synth-pop that much like its title shone in bright, dazzling technicolour.

Today appeared a new song in the form of ‘Anymore’. Blessed with more groove than its older brother, it plays up to the more playful, more unruly younger sibling role. Bass lines wobble, synths duck in and out of sight and vocals ring out, crisply delivered in a voice that teeters on the edge of falsetto.

These are, dare we say it, funky songs. Worldly. Jetsetters. It’s no suprise then that the blueprint for these opening tracks were crafted during an eight month period in which Tongues travelled the world, soaking up sights, sounds and sensations that would feed into his music.

We’re hella excited to see where Tongues goes next. If you’re in Glasgow, Tongues will be playing his first gig on 12th April at Broadcast. Get down there.
